About

The Reverend Jonathan Ashley (1712-1780) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, enslaved three people over a 40-year period: Jin Cole, her son Cato, and a man called Titus. Ashley used this account book to record charges for work he hired out Cato and Titus to perform for various trading partners in the 1750s, including Samuel Dickinson.
